Chinkon-sai (Spirit Pacification)
Type: " The Council of Yamato / Purification" Duration: 10 Minutes Components: Salt, Sake, A Shinto prayer (Norito), A clapping of hands.
Description
Unlike Western exorcisms which seek to banish or destroy, the Chinkon-sai seeks to calm a turbulent spirit (Aragami) back into a peaceful state (Nigimitama). It is the preferred method of the Yamato Council for dealing with hauntings.
Visual Manifestation
- The user creates a perimeter of salt.
- They perform the Kashiwade (Two sharp claps).
- A ripple of pure white light expands from the hands.
- The angry spirit's chaotic, jagged aura is smoothed out. Red/Black energy turns to White/Blue.
- The spirit often bows before fading away or returning to its shrine.
Mechanics
- Requirement: The user must be in a state of Mushin (No-Mind/Calm). Fear will pollute the rite.
- Effect: Ends a haunting without combat. The spirit provides a "Boon" (Information or a minor charm) in gratitude.
- Risk: " If the spirit is too corrupted (Akuryo-tainted), the rite fails, and the backlash hits the user as psychic damage."
